It is much quieter than the previous model and works just as well. I don't know why they had to change a product design that was just fine as it was. I would give the old design 5 stars and the new design 2 stars. Does a nice job with muscles and easy to do on yourself or with a partner. It's powerful enough to help relax the knots and get deeper muscles. Gives me the "shakes & good, good, good vibrations". This works great and it's not too heavy reply for Dogs rule's review helpful. I tried other massagers, but compared with the Wahl All-Body, they severely lacked. I always liked Target, and as the years go by, this store does an increasingly good job of staying price competitive; having a good choice of merchandise; being clean and organized; and being consumer friendly. There are other discount chains that I won't bother to shop, because it's such a hassle to go through the mess in the store that it grosses me out. It has 2 speeds, and came with 7 different attachments for surface massage, and areas. It's quiet, and the intensity would vary depending upon the type of attachment used, and the angle with which contact was made upon the skin.
