The speed settings are perfect and I use it a lot, specially when my muscles are tense after an intensive workout or if I am sore on my side or back. This is a great little machine and with all the interchangeable heads it is also perfect for intensive massage in problem areas. I use several reduction lotions and the massager helps me to distribute the lotion evenly in my problem areas. It is extremely powerful, therefore a little hard to hold to it in the higher speed, but that's not a bad thing. I can definitely feel the massage and is also very relaxing. So far I'm pleased with how it works, and I can't wait to see the results. It works fine but I would caution you to be careful as it does have quite a bit of force and vibration. The only real drawback to this unit is the short handle. It is hard to reach the middle of your back for example. It is large and difficult for wife who had a stroke, so caregiver or myself use it on her. I paid a Scultor Body Massager on 'February 04, 2011, and i still havent recive any thing, i am very mad.
